More Hot than Talented

In the world of music, there are the artists that are both vocally and lyrically superior to the rest of their contemporaries, and there are artists that rely on their marketing team, management, and looks. This is a list of the artists whose appearances are bigger than their talent.
Britney Spears – Outside of the occasional Catholic school girl outfit or nude-colored cat suit, there is no reason to pay attention to Britney Spears. Her songs are heavy on production and light on content.
Shakira – Shakira does not sing, she yodels. But, she has taken sex appeal to another level in her music videos and onstage performances.
Madonna – Madonna is one of the best artists in the history of music, and she is also one of the hottest 50 year olds on the planet. However, I dare you to name a socially relevant song that she has made in the last decade. Right now, she is all flash, legs, and boobs with very little depth.
Jennifer Lopez – She has turned mediocre background dancing into a lucrative singing and acting career. In fact, she has become her own self-titled brand with clothing and perfume bearing her name. However, most of Jennifer Lopez’s music videos should come with a mute option.
Lady GaGa – Lady GaGa seems like one of the biggest, most talented artists on the radio, until you look more closely at her music career. All of her songs follow the same pattern, though they are catchy. And, GaGa is completely unoriginal. She imitated the career of Madonna almost exclusively with her wild costumes and controversial comments.
Rihanna – Her songs flood radio stations. Rihanna is captivating, and has some of the most memorable hooks in popular music. But, Rihanna cannot sing.
