Men like big breasts, and women that have big breasts often do receive more attention and some small benefits. However, having a large bust line does not merit going under the knife. There are many reasons for women not to undergo surgery. Here are a few of them.
1. Implants Break… Quickly
Almost 10% of saline implants deflate within three years, which means once you have paid $4,000-$10,000 for your operation, there is a significant chance that it will be followed by another $4,000 to $10,000 surgery to correct the mistakes made in the first one soon after your body finally recovers fully from it. Breast implants are only feasible for someone who has a lot of disposable income to spend while changing their appearance or a well-paid sex worker who makes money based on the appearance of their bodies.
2. Boob Jobs Can Cause Cancer
Silicone breast implants can cause cancer in at least three different ways. Silicone itself is carcinogenic, so when the implant ruptures it can spread through the body and cause cancer. Silicone also breaks down into different forms of the substance making it easier to pass through the body. It can release platinum into the body which is toxic because it is sometimes used as a catalyst for the formation of silicone polymers. And, it also can release solvents like xylene or toluene into the body which are toxic.
3. Implants Break Easily
One of every four women who bought breast implants has to replace them because of some malfunction. This normally happens within five years of the first operation. Falls that would normally leave you with a slightly bruised breast could cause your implant to burst. When the implant is more full, it is more likely to explode when it is struck.
4. Any Surgery Can Kill You
Every time that you have a surgery there is a real possibility of death. 195,000 people die every year because of complications in a cosmetic plastic surgery. The most common complications in breast augmentation include, but are not limited to severe allergic reactions to the anesthesia, infection of the site of the surgery, or hematomas surrounding the breasts. The more rare occasions include gangrene and toxic shock syndrome from the death of the tissue and infection, respectively.
5. All Doctors Are Not Made Equally
The skill and intuition of your doctor directly affects the appearance of your breasts. Women with small busts typically want to jump to a “C” or “D” cup. The more skilled doctors convince their clients that they do not have enough skin and breast tissue to get attractive breast implants if they were previously “A” cups. There are not a lot of plastic surgeons that refuse surgeries for simple aesthetic reasons like this.
6. Your Doctor May Have No Certification
Your doctor may not be completely certified to put in implants. Most states allow any doctor that has attained a medical doctorate to take a weekend class on implantation and sell plastic surgery. Not surprisingly, one of the quickest growing divisions of healthcare is surgeons that correct mistakes that other doctors have made.
7. Great Doctors Can Not Prevent Scarring
Even if you pick the right surgeon there can be unattractive scarring. Though implantation techniques are getting better and lasers provide smaller and more concise incisions, there has to be a visible scar where the doctor inserted the implant. Some women develop progressively enlarging scar tissue called keloids. Women of color are particularly more prone to them. Scarring also occurs internally occasionally producing conditions like capsular contracture. In this case, scar tissue forms around the implant which causes the breast to become hard, misshapen, and sometimes painful too.
8. There Are Other Complications
And there will be some nerve damage. Breast implants have caused many women to lose sensitivity in their breasts, especially the nipples when they are partially or fully removed to insert the implants. Contrarily and rarely, breast augmentation surgery has caused women severe pain and hypersensitivity after surgery.
9. Implants Affect Production
Breastfeeding your child is one of the most important decisions that you as a mother can make. Studies prove that children that were breastfed have significantly better overall development, better immunity to sickness, and bond more closely to their mothers. It is vital to your child. Women with breast implants generally have problems with the amount of milk that they produce. The implant fills the space that milk would normally occupy, so their milk rarely reaches the necessary supply.
10. They Can Be Uncomfortable
Women with saline implants can hear the water-based solution sloshing around in their breasts. In the winter, the implant can get uncomfortably cold and they sometimes feel cool to the touch rather than warm in normal weather.
11. Back Pain
Women who have naturally big breasts and women with newly big breasts are more subject to back pain and problems. Big breasts also limit the kind of physical activities that you can participate in. Any exercise with a lot of running or jumping renders your large bust cumbersome and the movements can be painful too.
13. More Attention
You will definitely get more male attention with bigger boobs, but the type of attention that you receive will be of far less quality. Men that love fake boobs are generally shallow and immature.
14. Implants Do Not Help Esteem
And finally, breast implants do not make women feel better about themselves. In most case studies, there was a small improvement in the women’s self-image and self-esteem in the first three years, and then the women regressed to their previous judgements of themselves. Women that have breast augmentation surgery are two to four times as likely to kill themselves as women without the surgery.
